Magictail Soft Bird – Individual Trolling Bird for DIY Spreads & Daisy Chains

The Magictail Soft Bird is a soft-body trolling bird sold individually — the building block for custom daisy chains, teaser rigs, and spread configurations. The soft bird skips and splashes across the surface at trolling speed, creating the commotion and bubble trail that draws pelagic predators up from depth. Use it as a standalone teaser ahead of a lure, or string multiple birds together to build your own daisy chain spread. Available in 5" ($2.99) and 7" ($3.99) across 7 colors.

How to Use Soft Birds

  • DIY daisy chains – rig 3–5 soft birds in series on a leader to create a custom daisy chain teaser; add a trailing lure or hook for a complete rig
  • Single teaser – run one bird ahead of a trolling lure to add surface splash and draw fish to the presentation
  • Spread builder – mix sizes and colors across your spread to cover different baitfish profiles and find what the fish are keying on
  • Replacement component – replace worn or damaged birds in existing daisy chain rigs without buying a complete new rig

Size Selection Guide

5" – matches smaller baitfish profiles; ideal for inshore daisy chains targeting Spanish mackerel, false albacore, and bluefish, or as a component in lighter offshore rigs. 7" – larger profile for offshore spreads; creates more surface commotion and is preferred for tuna, mahi-mahi, and wahoo rigs trolled at 6–10 knots.

Color Selection Guide

White – matches ballyhoo and squid; the most versatile all-conditions color. Blue – matches blue runner and flying fish in clear offshore water. Green – strong mahi color; works well around weed lines and in green water. Pink – high-visibility attractor for mahi and wahoo. Purple – proven squid color; effective in blue water and low light. Rainbow – multi-color pattern that covers multiple baitfish profiles. Zucchini – green/yellow combination that works well in mixed water and around weed lines.
