Magictail Game Changer Tog Jig – 3-Pack, 3/4–4oz, 8 Colors
Magictail Game Changer Tog Jig – The Original Collar-Less Blackfish Jig
The Magictail Game Changer Tog Jig is the jig that changed tautog fishing. Developed by Magictail Outfitters in 2014, it was built to solve the two biggest problems with traditional banana jigs: bait loss from the collar and hooks that bend on big fish. The result is the most effective blackfish jig on the market — and the one that every other tog jig is now measured against. Sold in 3-packs across 8 colors and 7 weights from 3/4oz to 4oz.
What Makes It Different
- Collar-less design – traditional banana jigs have a collar that limits bait application and causes bait loss; the Game Changer removes it entirely, allowing maximum crab bait coverage and keeping your bait on longer
- Flat bottom profile – sits naturally on structure, presenting the bait at the right angle for tautog to pick it up
-
Custom heavy-duty hooks – designed specifically for blackfish and engineered to never bend on a fish:
- 4/0 hook on 3/4oz and 1oz jigs
- 5/0 hook on 1-1/2oz and larger
- Large-eye free-swinging hook – the hook swings and sits freely on the large eye, presenting the bait more naturally and triggering strikes from selective fish
- 8 color options – White Legger, Green Crab, Glow, Chartreuse/Orange, Bag Sac, Black, Glow White Legger, and Blue Glow
- 7 weight options – 3/4oz, 1oz, 1-1/2oz, 2oz, 2-1/2oz, 3oz, and 4oz
Weight Selection Guide
3/4–1oz – slack water and light current; shallower structure to 40 feet. 1-1/2–2oz – the all-around tog weight; covers most inshore structure in moderate current to 60 feet. 2-1/2–3oz – stronger current and deeper structure; keeps the jig on bottom in fast tides. 4oz – heavy current, deep water, and offshore structure where you need to stay pinned to the bottom.
Color Selection Guide
White Legger – the classic tog color; white body with leg-style tentacles that mimic crab legs; a go-to in clear water. Green Crab – matches the green crab, tautog’s primary forage; highly effective year-round. Glow – for deep water, low light, and murky conditions where visibility is limited. Glow White Legger – combines the White Legger profile with glow properties; excellent in low light and deep structure. Blue Glow – blue with glow; strong attractor in deep or stained water. Chartreuse/Orange – high-visibility combination for stained water and overcast conditions. Bag Sac – mimics the egg sac of a crab; a proven trigger color for big tautog. Black – silhouette color that works in any water clarity; especially effective in bright conditions.
