Magictail Round Head Squid Hoochie Jig – 1/4–8oz, 8 Colors
Magictail Round Head Squid Hoochie Jig – Fluke, Stripers & Bottom Species
The Magictail Round Head Squid Hoochie Jig combines a round head jig with a soft squid hoochie skirt to create a two-in-one presentation that works as both a standalone jig and a teaser/dropper rig component. The squid skirt adds bulk, color, and tentacle action that plain jig heads can’t replicate — making it especially effective for fluke, striped bass, sea bass, and other inshore and bottom species that key on squid as forage.
Available in 8 colors and 12 weights from 1/4oz to 8oz, covering everything from shallow back bay drifts to deep offshore structure.
Why the Hoochie Skirt Makes the Difference
- Squid hoochie skirt – adds bulk, color, and tentacle action that mimics live squid; more visual appeal than a bare jig head
- Round head design – stable fall, versatile presentation; works on the drop, on the retrieve, and when drifting bottom
- Standalone or dropper – fish it solo on a bucktail or use it as a dropper above a heavier jig in a tandem rig
- 12 weight options – 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 3/4, 1, 1-1/2, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8oz
- 8 color options – Blue/Pink, Chartreuse, Glow, Fire Tiger, Nuclear Chicken, Pink, Salmon, and White
- Multi-species – proven for fluke, striped bass, sea bass, weakfish, and other inshore and bottom species
Weight Selection Guide
1/4–3/8oz – shallow back bay, calm conditions, and light current; finesse fluke presentations. 1/2–3/4oz – the all-around inshore weight; covers most fluke drifts in moderate current to 30 feet. 1–1-1/2oz – stronger current and deeper structure for bigger fluke and stripers. 2–3oz – deep water and heavy current; keeps the bait on the bottom in fast tides. 4–6oz – offshore structure and deep reefs. 8oz – maximum depth and current; deep water wrecks and strong rips.
Color Selection Guide
White – the classic fluke color; matches spearing and sand eels in clear water. Chartreuse – high-visibility pick for stained water and overcast conditions. Blue/Pink – a natural squid color combination that works across species in clear water. Pink – strong attractor for fluke and weakfish. Salmon – natural baitfish profile that works across species. Glow – early morning, late evening, and deep structure. Fire Tiger – high-contrast pattern for any water clarity. Nuclear Chicken – chartreuse and white combo; a proven fluke color with maximum visibility.
