Magictail Inshore Series Rod – Built for Northeast Fluke, Tautog & Striped Bass

The Magictail Inshore Series Rod was designed specifically for the inshore fluke and tautog fisheries of the Northeast — the rod Magictail built to fish their own jigs. A sensitive tip that telegraphs every tap and tick on the bottom, a moderate action that loads properly for accurate casts, and a strong backbone that pulls big white chins out of wrecks and handles doormat fluke without giving an inch. Also an excellent striper rod for casting lures and jigging. Designed to fish Magictail Tog Jigs and Magictail Bucktails.

Available in 7'0" and 7'6", in both spinning and conventional configurations, from $244.99 to $264.99.

Rod Specifications

  • Carbon fiber (graphite) blank with additional carbon wrap for added hoop strength — lighter and stiffer than standard graphite blanks, with better resistance to crushing under heavy drag
  • Ergo Comfort Reel Seat with thin shrink wrap grips for ultimate sensitivity and durability — you feel everything the blank feels
  • Oversized K guides prevent tangles and allow bulky knots (FG, PR, Bimini) to pass freely without catching
  • Doorknob butt cap for comfortable stand-up fighting and rod-in-holder stability

Variant Selection Guide

  • 7'0" / 1–4oz Spin (1pc) – $244.99 – the lighter spinning option; ideal for bucktailing fluke in shallower water and lighter tog jig presentations in 20–60 feet. Great all-around inshore spinning rod for stripers on lures.
  • 7'6" / 2–6oz Spin (1pc) – $244.99 – the heavier spinning option; handles larger bucktails and heavier tog jigs in deeper water and stronger current. Extra length adds casting distance for striper fishing from shore or boat.
  • 7'6" / 3–8oz Conv (1pc) – $264.99 – conventional setup for wreck fishing and heavy tog jigging; the moderate-heavy power handles 3–4oz jigs in strong current and gives you the backbone to pull big tautog off structure.
  • 7'6" / 4–12oz Conv (1pc) – $264.99 – the heavy conventional option for deep water, heavy current, and maximum jig weight; built for serious wreck fishing where you need to stay on bottom and muscle fish away from structure.
